Subject: RE: [wsbpel-liaisons] RE: Liaison
Hi John, We do need a WS-Choreography Liaison. As per Diane's suggestion, I am writing to Steve and Martin to see if they would give us an update during the F2F. Thanks, Rajesh. -----Original Message----- From: John Evdemon [mailto:jevdemon@microsoft.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 4:46 PM To: rajesh@iopsis.com; Fletcher, Tony Cc: wsbpel-liaisons@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: RE: [wsbpel-liaisons] RE: Liaison Rajesh, Diane and I will have a rough agenda by the end of this week, finalized by the end of next week. We would like to have one or more presentation(s) on the liaisons (do we need to appoint a WSCI liaison?). Tony, I have attached "BCF in a Nutshell" that may prove to be helpful. I am looking forward to a productive relationship with TMG. Thank you for volunteering your time for this Liaison. The liaison coordination group is available under the WS BPEL TC list. The group email is <mailto:%20wsbpel-liaisons@lists.oasis-open.org> wsbpel-liaisons@lists.oasis-open.org. It would be helpful if you could subscribe to this list. I have added one template to the list area for Meeting Minutes and one for the Nomination itself. These however, are not set in stone and you are welcome to make any changes you see fit. We will then incorporate the same in the templates, subject to the Coordination Groups approval. As regards the next F2F and avoiding possible clashes in the future, I would request Diane or John to please respond. I know Diane had chalked out an approximate schedule for the F2F in Armonk. If you need any further clarification, please do not hesitate to call me at 650 504 2980 ( my mobile ). Cheers, Rajesh. -----Original Message----- From: Fletcher, Tony [mailto:Tony.Fletcher@choreology.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 5:12 AM To: rajesh@iopsis.com Subject: Liaison Dear Rajesh, As you know I have been appointed liaison between WSBEL and UN/CEFACT TMG BCF (Business Collaboration Framework). Should I join the liaison coordination group? If so and if you are having occasional teleconferences please let me know details and I will try to join you. Is there a list that I should join? Finally (for now!) what sort of liaison and liaison reporting do you see as being required? And should I send it only to the liaison coordination team, the chairs the general list or the Secretary(ies) for the most recent meeting. Below please find a trial first report. This liaison report on the UN/CEFACT TMG work on a Business Collaboration Framework (BCF) aims to set the scene. Future updates will centre on the work content. UN/CEFACT is parented on the United Nations Organisation via the Economic Committee for Europe. It (and its predecessors) have worked on the simplification of trade procedures for a good number of years. It has a long experience in electronic business via involvement in the international standard for Electronic data Interchange (EDIFACT) . UN/CEFACT continues to meet as a separate Plenary meeting of Heads of Delegation (they have a membership system at that level based on Nations and recognised organisations. However its main working arm is now the UN/CEFACT Forum which had its inaugural meeting in September 2002 in Geneva. The Forum meets twice a year in various locations around the world generally in September and March of each year at present. It consists of five main divisions or Groups. The International Trade and Business Processes Group (TBG) is the largest and consists of many teams focused on different industry sectors. The Information Content management Group (ICG) are responsible for the procedures and actual cataloguing of the results of other groups - particularly agreed information structures (for EDI, XML, ...) and business processes. The Applied Technologies Group (ATG) takes the syntax neutral outputs of other groups (particularly TBG and TMG) and provides the specifications for expressing in particular syntaxes (currently EDI and XML). The Legal Group (LG) provides support to the other groups on electronic business legal matters. The Techniques and Methodologies Group (TMG) provides the theoretical and descriptive underpinnings for the other groups - this is where the work on a Business Collaboration Framework (BCF) resides. There is also a Forum Coordination Team chaired by Melanie McCarthy (GM) which consists of the chairs and vice chairs of the Groups. More information on the structure of UN/CEFACT can be found at http://webster.disa.org/cefact-groups/fct/ <http://webster.disa.org/cefact-groups/fct/> and plans for developing the Business Collaboration Framework (BCF) at http://webster.disa.org/cefact-groups/tmg/bcf-tour/agenda.html <http://webster.disa.org/cefact-groups/tmg/bcf-tour/agenda.html> and http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/wsbpel-liaisons/download.php/32 00/BCF <http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/wsbpel-liaisons/download.php/3 200/BCF%20in%20a%20nutshell.doc> in a nutshell.doc And finally: Unfortunately the next physical meetings of these two groups clash (17 - 19 Sept 03 in Seattle for OASIS WSBPEL and 15 - 19 Sept in Seoul for the Forum). I would like to avoid this in future if at all possible. Do we know the future meeting schedule for the WSBPEL TC? If not could we raise as a question at the F2F please.
