Subject: 31 Mar BPEL 1.1 vs. 5 May BPEL 1.1 and administrivia

as pointed out by someone whose name i didn't catch (apologies and all
credit to you), the charter for the TC refers to the March release of BPEL
1.1, whereas what was submitted was the 5 May final draft. it was
represented that the only difference was correction of typos, which i
believe is quite incorrect.

the 5 May version is the one in which serviceLinks were renamed
partnerLinks, partners as groupings of partnerLinks were introduced, etc.
these changes are non-trivial, and, i believe, desirable.

i think that it is quite important that we're all on the same page. as per
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/guidelines.php#clarify_charter
excerpted below

"Clarify the TC Charter

The TC's statement of purpose, scope, and deliverables - which together are
commonly referred to as the TC charter - were defined by the proposers of
the TC and announced in the Call For Participation. The TC Process allows
these to be clarified, but not changed. A TC cannot change its purpose or
the direction of the TC - that would require disbanding the TC then starting
a new TC. The clarification must be made by vote of the TC, and the results
must be minuted and posted to the TC mail list and web page, and
communicated to the TC Administrator who will make an announcement to the
members of OASIS."

i would like to propose the following motion:

WHEREAS the version of BPEL that was submitted by the authors to the TC is
version 1.1, dated May 5, 2003 and
WHEREAS the version of BPEL that is referred to by the TC charter is an
earlier version of 1.1, dated March 31, 2003 and
WHEREAS the versions have substantive differences
We hereby clarify the TC charter to include a reference to the 5 May version
that was submitted.
