Subject: Issue - 127 - Locally Scoped Partners

This issue has been added to the wsbpel issue list. The issues list is posted as a Technical Committee document to the OASIS WSBPEL TC pages on a regular basis. The current edition, as a TC document, is the most recent version of the document entitled in the "Issues" folder of the WSBPEL TC document list - the next posting as a TC document will include this issue. The list editor's working copy, which will normally include an issue when it is announced, is available at this constant URL.

Issue - 127 - Locally Scoped Partners

Status: open
Categories: Partner links
Date added: 11 Jun 2004
Submitter: Dieter Koenig1
Date submitted: 11 June 2004
Document: BPEL4WS 1.1 (May 5, 2003), Section 7.3 "Business Partners", and resolved issue 75 : Locally Scoped partnerLink declarations .
Description: In Section 7.3, the partner element is defined as a subelement of the process, and described as "as a subset of the partner links of the process". With the resolution of issue 75, a BPEL partnerLink can now be declared on a scope. It is no longer sufficient to have one global partner element that refers to partnerLinks by ncname. One could think of several alternatives to deal with this situation:
  1. partner elements defined locally to scopes
  2. partner elements for the process can only refer to partnerLinks defined in the process (not desirable as other partnerLinks are ignored)
  3. partner elements for the process can refer to all partnerLinks (not desirable as this violates visibility rules)

Submitter's proposal: We propose that the partner element can be defined as subelement of a scope.
Changes: 11 Jun 2004 - new issue
