Subject: Issue 198: Why do multi-starts all have to have identical correlation sets?
The issues list is posted as a Technical Committee document to the OASIS WSBPEL TC pages on a regular basis. The current edition, as a TC document, is the most recent version of the document entitled in the "Issues" folder of the WSBPEL TC document list - the next posting as a TC document will include this issue. Description: Section
6.5 requires that if a process has multiple start activities then all the start
activities MUST use the same correlation sets. Why? I can understand the
requirement that all start activities MUST share at least one common correlation
set, this is needed for rendezvous. But why should all the correlation sets have
to be identical?
In fact, given that when there are multiple start activities this means it's
likely that the messages received will be of different types and given that
those different types will have different properties defined on them wouldn't it
be the common case that a multi-start process would need to have different
correlation sets on the different start activities? :Submitter’s proposal: We
change the language in 6.5 to require that if a process has multiple start
activities then all those activities MUST share at least one common correlation
set.
