Subject: RE: [wsdm] Groups - Suggestion

One suggestion that I have to try to speed things along a bit given the time
constraints we have ...

While it is obviously important to continue to narrow down the list of
requirements, there are perhaps other things we can be working on
simultaneously.

For example, no matter what requirements we come up with for MOWS, we will
need to define a set of resources we will be managing and a set of
attributes, operations and notifications (to put a JMX slant on the lingo).
So perhaps, in parallel, we could be trying to coming to some agreement as
to:

1) what resources in the web services world actually require management
2) what are the characteristics of those resources that we would like to
manage

As Andrea pointed out (and I agree) I don't think we should be using CIM to
do this early work, just a simple list of the managed resources, their
definition and their characteristics would suffice. Now I know that any
number of us have models of web services that we are using in one way or
another already, so we given that people are willing to share some or all of
those models in the above simplistic way, we could probably make significant
head way.

Here's Geoff's quick list of web service resources worth managing

Web Service Execution Environment contains
	Web Service Port Types contains
		Web Service Methods (Services?)
Web Service instances (running instances of services?)

Maybe we don't need all of those, maybe there are others.
Do we want to model instances?
Maybe I am completely wrong.

If this is not a good idea, then please just hit me over the head with some
large blunt object (such as a piano), and set me on the true and correct
course.

Regards,
Geoff
