Subject: Statement about the product name concern
I just wanted to make the following statement public and known to all members of WSDM TC and the committee chairs.
As you may have heard, yesterday, CA has announced a product called the Unicenter WSDM. The name was picked in indication for CA embracing and supporting the standard. Much like product names such as Microsoft SQL Server, IBM COBOL, etc.
The officially registered name is "Unicenter WSDM", NOT "WSDM"! The name "WSDM" must be registered by OASIS to stake it.
If so happens, CA would very much welcome product names such as IBM Tivoli WSDM, HP OpenView WSDM, BMC Patrol WSDM, etc.
Again, CA chose the product name to indicate that it is an element of the Unicenter line that will support WSDM standard for Web Services management.
PS. The product naming was decided by the marketing department after proper analysis and legal clearance.
