Subject: WSDM 1.1 Name Scheme Proposal

All,

On the last Thurs conf. call, we discussed bringing the namespace, XML Schema and WSDL names under the same conventions as used by RF-&-N. That convention involves the following format:  http://docs.oasis-open.org/xxx/X(w)-n(.xsd / .wsdl) where:

docs.oasis-open.org is used in all names

xxx is an abbreviation of the family of standards (e.g., “wsrf” for WS-ResourceFramework, or, obviously “wsdm” for us).

X is a simple abbreviation of a particular standard (e.g., “rp” for ResourceProperties, or “mo” for MOWS).

(w) where “w” is a suffix on X for WSDL files

-n is the version number of namespace or file

and .xsd or .wsdl is the file extension for XML Schema and WSDL files respectively.

Given this format, the following proposal for the namespace, XML Schema and WSDL names is made, where the “-n” is “-2” designating the second public version of these files (and the … is docs.oasis-open.org):

Namespaces:

MUWS Part 1: http://.../wsdm/mu1-2

MUWS Part 2: http://.../wsdm/mu2-2

MOWS:        http://.../wsdm/mo-2

MUWS Events: http://.../wsdm/mue-2

MOWS Events: http://.../wsdm/moe-2

XML Schema documents:

MUWS Part 1: http://.../wsdm/mu1-2.xsd

MUWS Part 2: http://.../wsdm/mu2-2.xsd

MOWS:        http://.../wsdm/mo-2.xsd

MUWS Events: http://.../wsdm/mue-2.xsd

MOWS Events: http://.../wsdm/moe-2.xsd

WSDL documents:*

MUWS Part 1 WSDL: http://.../wsdm/mu1w-2.wsdl

MUWS Part 2 WSDL: http://.../wsdm/mu2w-2.wsdl

MOWS WSDL:        http://.../wsdm/mow-2.wsdl

*Note: WSDL documents will be fragments, lacking portType elements due to the decision we made at the last Face-to-Face.  XML Schema documents will define primarily the GEDs but will not define <capability>Properties or types.  (Other means well be provided to make available to developers the elements they need to cut-and-paste into their application RPDoc schemas and portTypes.)
