Subject: OASIS Symposium: Call for Proposals for the eGovernment Workshop on eID and Citizen-centric Administration

> [The following message is sent on behalf of the OASIS eGovernment Member
> Section Group, organizers of the workshop.]
>
> WORKSHOP ON ELECTRONIC IDENTITY & CITIZEN-CENTRIC ADMINISTRATION
> To be held during the OASIS Symposium, Santa Clara, California, May 1 2008
>
> CALL FOR PROPOSALS - Deadline of March 03, 2008
>
> The Steering Committee of the newly established OASIS eGovernment Member
> Section invites proposals for panels, presentations or discussion papers for
> the eGovernment Workshop on eID and Citizen-centric Administration.
>
> The workshop will focus on the following themes:
> . Authentification
> . Security
> . Composability for web services
> . Inter-operability frameworks
> . Implementation guidelines for open standards
>
> Discussions at the Workshop will explore how different levels of
> administration deal with these issues and how they relate to each other. It
> is hoped that the debate will embrace policy as well as technology questions
> and stimulate future activities in the context of the eGov Member Section,
> including webinars, discussion platforms and seminars or workshops, possibly
> with inter-operability demonstrations.
>
> The provisional program for May 1st is under development. We expect the
> Workshop will be from 9.0 a.m. to 3.0 p.m. with a short break for lunch. The
> Workshop would have 3 Panels, each of around one-and-a half hours, with up
> to 3 presentations at each Panel session. We very much hope that this
> Workshop will be of interest to the business community and technology firms
> as well as to the public administrations and academic specialists.
>
> Proposals should demonstrate that they relate to the Vision and Work Program
> of the OASIS eGovernment Member Section. Please submit your ideas to Sri
> Gopalan of BAH, Washington by email to gopalan_sri@bah.com.
>
> Deadline of March 03 2008.
>
> May we remind you, the OASIS eGov member Section welcomes ALL OASIS members!

>
> The eGovernment Member Section VISION
> To promote the adoption and implementation of open standards to facilitate
> interoperability and to stimulate the sharing of best practices and
> examination of use cases, bringing together the public administrations at
> all levels with other OASIS constituencies - enterprises, research and
> academia and ICT professionals wherever they are.
>
> The eGovernment Member Section WORK PROGRAM includes the following:
>
> 1. Promoting interoperability frameworks by developing cooperation
> projects with other relevant groups, such as Liberty, CEN, ETSI, ITU and
> W3C, and to eGMS Workshop call, page 2.
>
> 2. Engage closely with, for example, the US Government, the European
> Union institutions, and the World Bank as well as the widest possible range
> of governments at national/federal, regional and local levels.
>
> 3. Developing eGovernment guidelines that could add value by focusing
> on use cases and specific requirements at different levels of public
> administration in countries from varying levels of economic and
> technological development. Such guidelines could also identify points at
> which new standards may need to be developed and demonstrate how various
> ways of implementing existing standards could accelerate the egov maturity
> process.
>
> 4. Creating a platform for a series of activities - webinars,
> workshops, discussion fora - focused on stimulating more inclusive and
> citizen-centred eGov solutions.
