Subject: WSIA 5/8/2002: [wsia][wsia-requirements][E902]
Suggest we concentrate on the business requirement and other criteria that are dissected down, but not to the level of implementation - unless we choose to bound the functions at the tactical level. As for this requirement: The key is that the capability exists for the Producer to establish and bound the connection as stateful. The connection state elicits or defines further functions and what the handshakes are between the Producer and Consumer. Let's concentrate on the state and its parameters rather than what binds the connection (until we get to that point or we choose to define those boundaries). Thoughts? Monica J. Martin Program Manager Drake Certivo, Inc. 208.585.5946 Reference E902: The specification should support both implicit and explicit creation of a stateful connection between Consumers and Producers. The Producer signifies that a connection is stateful by creating and returning a Handle, an opaque reference for use by the Consumer to refer to the stateful interaction between an End User and the Producer. -----Original Message----- From: Rich Thompson Sent: Mon 5/6/2002 5:22 AM To: Gil Tayar Cc: 'Alan Kropp'; 'wsia@lists.oasis-open.org' Subject: RE: [wsia][wsia-requirements][E902] I'm not sure the concept of a Handle should be pushed all the way back to that of an _implementation_ entity, but agree that it is a solution rather than a requirement. I think the only issue with the original wording is what to consistently call the interactions between an instance of the Consumer and an instance of the Producer. My question is - what is wrong with E902? -----Original Message----- From: Alan Kropp [ mailto:akropp@epicentric.com] Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 04:49 To: 'wsia@lists.oasis-open.org' Subject: [wsia][wsia-requirements][E902] E902 The specification should support both implicit and explicit creation of a stateful connection between Consumers and Producers. Means by which the Consumer gains access to the stateful connection must be well defined. Debate: SR, GT, SA, AK, RT. Also, E903-4. I think we can introduce the concept of a Handle: E902 The specification should support both implicit and explicit creation of a stateful connection between Consumers and Producers. The Producer signifies that a connection is stateful by creating and returning a Handle, an opaque reference for use by the Consumer to refer to the stateful interaction between an End User and the Producer. ---------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe or unsubscribe from this elist use the subscription manager: < http://lists.oasis-open.org/ob/adm.pl> ---------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe or unsubscribe from this elist use the subscription manager: < http://lists.oasis-open.org/ob/adm.pl> ---------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe or unsubscribe from this elist use the subscription manager: < http://lists.oasis-open.org/ob/adm.pl>
