Chris, The number of handsets supporting XHTML is still limited, though most mobile phone vendors announced their support for WAP 2.0 and XHTML mobile profile(an extension of XHTML Basic defined by WAP forum). Most of newest phones from KDDI(2nd largest carrier in Japan) have a XHTML browser, but I think there are only few newest phones from Nokia and Ericsson except that. Recently WAP forum bacame an new organization called Open Mobile Alliance. I don't know enough information on that, but I believe they will continue to work on WAP/XHTML specification. Anyway I think it'll be fine as far as we support XHTML Basic, which is W3C recommendation. I read an article that NTT DoCoMo plans to support WAP2.0 and XHTML for their 3G handsets, but they will support only cHTML for i-mode phones using current network. I-mode phones will probably support XHTML as well as cHTML if XHTML Basic becomes common enough , however it might take a few years. Regards, Madoka Mitsuoka, Fujitsu Laboratories of America, Inc. Anyone know if XHTML basic is still being proposed and what the status of cHTML will be going forward?
