Subject: Re: [wsrp][markup] modifying the <head> tag
Do we need to allow for portlets to modify the
contents of the containing page's <head> tag? If so this probably
has ramifications in the [interfaces] sub committee as well.
Three reasons a portlet may want to modify the
pages <head> tag:
1. A portlet may need to link in css
styles
2. A portlet may want to place JavaScript at
the head of the document
- I don't see this as a
major issue. I would recommend that the portlet place JavaScript within
its markup fragment.
3. The XForms draft spec states that the
xforms:model tag must be placed in the head of the containing document.
- For portlets to take advantage
of XForms the portlet would need access to the <head>. The XForms
spec is not final so it may be worthwhile lobbying the XForms group to remove
this limitation and allow for the <xforms:model> element to occur within
the <body> element.
