Subject: RE: [wsrp] Issue#44: Add feedback mechanism to public parametermodel?

Public parameters allow a consumer to direct a Portlet in how it should render itself. However, we have no means for the rendering to provide feedback on whether or not the markup was able to effectively use such information. This issue already came up in support for device capabilities and extending MIME support but I believe it to be a valid use case for any rendering input. For example, a consumer could provide a “timezone” public parameter and the Porlet could reply with: ignored (consumer could add a “crossing timezone” border); equalsnative; converted; or even synchronized (allowing a sophisticated consumer to not bother to send that parameter again).

Andre

Andre,

Could you start this discussion with a use case or two and show how this proposal would solve them?
