Subject: Re: WG: [xacml] Acknowledgements

Hi everyone,

Here's the actual TC Process text from Section 2.18:
"A specification that is approved by the TC at any level must include a list of people who participated in the development of the specification. This list shall be initially compiled by the Chair, and any Member of the TC may add or remove their names from the list by request."

Mary

Standards are like parachutes: they work best when they're open.

Hi Bill,

Ok, I think I understand. The algorithm is:
  • The voting members who are listed on the top portion of the spreadsheet (sent in http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/201001/msg00011.html), ending alphabetically w Paul Tyson.
  • Plus, any contributers listed in the acknowledgments of XACML 2.0 who are in the bottom half of the spreadsheet (non-voting current members)
  • Plus, at "chair's discretion" (based on Mary email) other non-voting members who have been recent active participants in the XACML 3.0 process.
Does this sound right?
If so, then based on that, my inclination would be to include any on the bottom half who have been recent active participants, such as those who actively attended the F2F as well as active emailers/meeting attenders, who may have had intermittent voting status in the 3.0 time frame.

    Thanks,

it was created by taking the intersection of the names in the earlier version (v2) with the current members of the tc and adding in all current voting members. the reasoning behind this combination is that we wanted to attribute as many of the early authors as possible, however TC rules only allow this to apply to current members. the exception is ludwig sietz who made contributions as a non-voting member during the v3 development process.

you may have been missed because kavi doesn't show you as "voting member", but rather "secretary"--an obvious error on my part.

attached is what is shown as the current active member list as of today:

Hi Erik,

I can't quite tell from your reply if you are going to add my name, but I will assume you are. :)

I am not sure how Bill constructed the original list you referred to (i.e. I read what he said http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/200909/msg00062.html, but it did not seem to be complete looking at it now - i.e. I can't figure out, based on current voting members, how the additional names were selected), but I acknowledge that I missed the significance of it at the time: I was under the impression that it was trying to collect some names of prior TC members who were not current active participants and kind of assumed that all active people were included.

    Thanks,
    Rich

Hi Rich,

I used the list that Bill posted here:

http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/200909/msg00062.html

I posted about the list just before the holidays here (I got no objections then):

http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/200912/msg00109.html

Mary responded with some clarifications about OASIS policy here:

http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/200912/msg00117.html

Hal, Bill, do you want to make any changes to the list based on Mary's comments?

Best regards,
Erik

Hi Erik,

I couldn't find my name either. Have you made sure that all current TC members or voting members - not sure the criteria are on the list?

    Thanks,
    Rich

All,

Can you make sure that you review the list of acknowledgements in the
latest working drafts? Once they get voted up, we cannot change the list
without having to go back to a working draft and redo the whole voting
process.

Last time round for CD-1, I got complaints about missing people after
the vote. So, please check it now.

Best regards,
Erik
