U.S. privacy and cybersecurity executives are invited to attend a call on 11 June, hosted by ANSI and OASIS, to discuss ISO's new "
Consumer Protection: Privacy by Design" Project Committee.
ISO/PC 317 will define an international, privacy protection standard that will impact providers of consumer goods and services. According to ISO, the standard will extend beyond the new EU regulations for data protection, help companies avoid data breaches and give consumers more control over the use of their data.
Nine countries, including the UK, China, and Korea, have already gained Participant status in ISO/PC 317. The U.S. needs corporate support to form a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) under ANSI in order to move from Observer to Participant status and have an active voice in the work.
If your organization is based in the U.S. and you are interested in attending the call next month, please let me know.
