XDI TC Members and Observers: First, a note that the XRI TC approved XRI 2.0 as a Committee Draft yesterday and submitted it to OASIS for a 30-day public review period starting today. (A copy of the links is appended below.) Second, a reminder that we will resume regular XDI TC telecons with the official meeting this week. Below is a preliminary agenda - other items may be added tomorrow (email me if you want to add an item). ROLL CALL 1) CALL TO ORDER a) Approval of previous minutes b) Agenda review and additions c) Announcements (especially for XDI TC home page) d) Review of outstanding action items 2) UPDATE ON XRI 2.0 SPECIFICATIONS We will provide a brief report on the XRI 2.0 vote and next steps towards OASIS standardization. 3) FACE TO FACE IN NEW ORLEANS We will go over the logistics, discuss priorities for the meeting, and then assign action items for developing the agenda. 4) USE CASES AND REQUIREMENTS REPORT While many of us were focused on XRI 2.0, Bill Barnhill has been carrying the torch. We will get caught up on UCR status and lay firm plans to complete and approve this at the meeting. 5) ENVELOPE MODEL REPORT With luck (and some rest) after his XRI 2.0 marathon, Dave McAlpin will have an updated proposal on the Envelope model schema and protocol. 6) UNIVERSAL MODEL REPORT Andy Dale will have a report on his progress on the Universal model schema and protocol. We will also discuss some ideas that came out of completing the work on XRI 2.0 resolution. 7) NEW BUSINESS 8) CLOSING AND NEXT MEETING ********* Description ----------- The XRI V2.0 suite of specifications define a syntax and resolution protocol for abstract identifiers -- identifiers that are independent of a specific location, domain, application, or protocol. The XRI specifications build directly on the foundation provided by the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) and IRI (Internationalized Resource Identifier) specifications (RFC 3986 and 3987). Unlike URNs (Uniform Resource Names, RFC 2141), XRIs support both persistent and reassignable abstract identifiers. In addition they offer several other features required for a uniform abstract identification layer, including unlimited federation, cross-references, and global context symbols. Files ----- 1. XRI Syntax V2.0 Committee Draft 01 defines the normative ABNF grammar for XRIs, transformations from XRIs into IRIs and URIs, relative XRI references, and normalization/comparison. XRI Resolution V2.0 Committee Draft 01 defines an HTTP/HTTPS-based resolution protocol for XRIs, including both generic and trusted resolution. XRI Metadata V2.0 Committee Draft 01 defines four namespaces under the XRI global context symbol "$" for common types of identifier metadata, including language tags, date/time stamps, version identifiers, and annotations. Introduction to XRIs Working Draft 04 is a non-normative introduction to the uses and features of XRIs. This work-in-progress is intended to serve as an entry point for the XRI 2.0 suite.
