Subject: About the V14 schema

For those not able to make today's XDI TC call, a short explanation of the
revision incorporated in the proposed V14 schema posted at:

http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xdi/download.php/16083/draft-xd
i-schema-v14.xsd

The only change is the revision of the "xref" attribute on the XRI
element to "type" with two enumerated values: "ref" and "link" to fully
document the source of the XRI.

The source of this revision was the analysis that appears in Figure 1 on
page 8 of the following document on XRI resolution from the XRI TC document:

http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xri/download.php/16021/xri-res-
flowchart-wd04.pdf

This analysis, done to determine processing options for equivalent XRIs
included in an XRDS document as part of XRI resolution, made it clear that
it can be important to know whether the source of an XRI reference is a
Resource or a Link. The V13 "xref" attribute on the AbsoluteXRI and XRI
elements did not distinguish between the source being a Ref or a Link
element.

Replacing the "xref" attribute with the new "type" attribute enables the
enumeration of all five types of XRI arcs shown in Figure 1 of the above
document.

Please send any feedback to the list; otherwise we'll proceed with the V14
schema.
