Subject: Re: [xdi] SECOND STRAWMAN from Drummond and Markus - please vote ASAP
I think =markus[<+email>] totally throws out the point that "attribute" is a property of the NODE following the +email arc, and not at all a property of either the arc itself or the preceding node. The paired delimiters make it look like a property of the arc, or possibly of both nodes. I don't think there was actually any ordering problem left after we accept that attribute and singleton are node properties and form a node subsegment that must be between the two arc subsegments and not a part of either. The only ordering question within the node subsegment is whether & comes before ^ or vice versa (unimportant), and the only ordering question within the arc subsegments is the order of context symbol and identifier (everyone is fine with the existing order of context symbol before identifier, and there's no reason to change) In JSON parsed formats - which are more likely to be a wire format than the Display Format we're discussing now is - the paired delimiter reduces to just the left delimiter, which puts the [ and < back between =markus and +email, which is on the wrong node.
