There is definitely redundancy, but the purpose of a graphic format is to explain intuitively. The <> could be removed, for example, now that the diamond node shape expresses the attribute node, which appropriately shows it as a property of the node, not the preceding arc. However if we want to teach how <> works in the address syntax, why not allow the <> in the graph labels. All nodes are now context nodes except for the literal node which is a very special case.
