PRESENTATIONS/DISCUSSIONS

Progress on Working Drafts

Report on progress on XDI Core and XDI Messaging.

XDI Symbol Table

Dan Blum has shared a table of XDI symbols with the TC. We will review the table and together try to come up with definitions/descriptions of the symbols.

In doing so, the following resources may be helpful:

“XDI Graph Model Structure”:

https://wiki.oasis-open.org/xdi/GraphModelStructure

“Thoughts on XDI Context Symbol Usage Rules”

https://docs.google.com/document/d/16U7w511a3rbS2Ya6iJwjQ1lSiwrDjF9Ko2rdR83sJ0A/

ABNF Updates

Joseph and Drummond have been continuing to work on the ABNF for XDI Core 1.0. As sections are finished they will be mirrored on the XDI TC wiki ABNF page:

  https://wiki.oasis-open.org/xdi/XdiAbnf

The first sections there are proposed to be final so TC members should provide any comments ASAP.

Animesh also would like to go over the ABNF for discovery keys.

Root-relative vs. authority-relative statements, and merging graphs

A discussion has begun about whether certain statements in an XDI graph should be “root-relative”, e.g.:

=markus<$public><$key>&/&/”...”

or “authority-relative”, e.g.:

<$public><$key>&/&/”...”

This may have an impact on the mathematical correctness of the XDI graph model, on link contract functionality, on practical graph merging scenarios, and on uses cases where the authority of one graph makes statements about another authority (e.g. =markus making statements about =drummond).

More About the Link Contract Pattern Revision

We will look further at the logic behind the link contract pattern revision:

https://wiki.oasis-open.org/xdi/LinkContractPattern

The “Unauthorized $ref Problem” and “Unbounded $set Problem”

We will return to these and determine next steps.

DECISION POINTS FOR THIS CALL

Outer Root Syntax Revision

The formal proposal coming ouf of last week’s telecon is:

  1. To change the XDI address of the outer root node from () to the empty string.

  2. To change the XDI direct contextual statement predicate from () to the empty string.

Drummond is not able to attend the call due to travel but is in full support of this proposal.

Attribute Specialization Rule

The formal proposal is for a rule to be included in XDI Core that states:

  1. If an entity is described by an attribute, then all nodes under that entity that specialize that attribute MUST also be attributes.

Drummond is not able to attend the call due to travel but is in full support of this proposal.

DECISION POINT QUEUE REVIEW

The decision queue stack is shown on the following three auto-generated Category pages:

NEXT CALL

The next call is next week at the regular time.
