Subject: Re: [xdi] Inner root in subject vs. object position in triple

This sounds right. After the notation shift, there is no limitation on which if any inner root(s) you can have in either the subject or object.

I don't think it makes sense to ever have an inner root in the predicate, because like you say there is no real basis for this in the graph model.

When it comes to the optimal graph layout, I usually try to have the common root node at the top of the diagram, and then arrange all other context nodes to resemble a tree.

What is the best arrangement for diagramming this difference? I’ve tried different arrangements but am still not sure which is best. Also looking for a use case for an inner root inside an object; and also whether an inner root is possible within a predicate, which does not seem graphable to me so far.

(=a/$p)=b/$q/=c
=a/$p/(=b/$q)=c
