NOTES

Upcoming Conferences

We are entering the “spring identity conference season” and, with XDI being directly relevant to various identity initiatives, especially blockchain identity aka self-sovereign identity or decentralized identity, we discussed the various upcoming conferences and XDI-related sessions we’d like to have at each:

Drummn and Markus will be attending Rebooting the Web of Trust. Markus says he knows there is interest in XDI for permissioned exchange of medical records.

None of us will be able to attend Tomorrow’s Transactions.

All of us are attending Internet Identity Workshop. Phil said that there a number of blockchain companies coming to this edition. We agreed that blockchain identity and agent-to-agent data exchange will be major topics. Markus said that he plans to cover Ævatar, University of Helsinki, and CULedger projects that will be using XDI. He also wants to hold a session or two on how he plans to add DID support to XDI2. Drummond said he expects deep discussion on agent-to-agent protocols, and that XDI is a candidate for when such protocols need full power link contracts and rich semantics.

At EIC, Phil will be moderating a full day session on decentralized identity and self-sovereign identity at which Drummond and six others involved with DIDs and Sovrin will be speaking. Markus will also be on a panel. So it should be another good opportunity to discuss where XDI fits.

The final three conferences on the list are going to have more sparse attendance and will be less focused on agent interactions, so they are not likely to be as fertile.

We briefly discussed that this heavy conference schedule may limit the number of weekly XDI TC calls we have over this period, since much of our discussions will be live at these conferences.

NEXT REGULAR CALL

We will most likely NOT have a call next week due to the Rebooting the Web of Trust conference in Paris. The next call will be the week after at the usual time (Tuesday 9AM PT).
