Subject: [xliff] Minutes of the XLIFF TC August 6th. 2002
Minutes of the XLIFF TC August 6th. 2002 1/ Attendance: Jonathan Clark, Tony Jewtushenko, Mark Levins, Mat Lovatt, John Reid, Peter Reynolds, Yves Savourel, Mirek Driml, Reinhard Schaler, David Pooley. Apologies: John Corrigan, Enda McDonnell, Christian Lieske Observer: Bryan Schnabel. 2/ Minutes of the last meeting were agreed as a correct record. 3/ Work in progress Migration policy: This was agreed unanimously in an email ballot with 10 votes in favour. Formalized Extensibility: Yves presented the work on Formalized Extensibility. He raised the issue that there had been little feedback on attribute lists from the TC members. It was decided that Yves would complete work on this document which would then be sent to TC. Members could have a day to reply with clarifications before this went to a ballot vote. Embedded XLIFF: Yves presented this document and said there were three ways Embedded XLIFF could be implemented. These are: 1/ Embedding a Full XLIFF Document 2/ Embedding One or More XLIFF Constructs 3/ Embedding Localization Directives Yves suggested that the TC should look at this to decide on Embedding Localisation directives. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200206/msg00013.html It was greed that we would look at this and discuss it later. Yves will send out a snippet of this specification. Working draft Naming conventions: There was a discussion on this which decided the following changes to the list in the Elements and Attributes section (1.1.1) of the section on Naming Convention (1.1) : The wording for item 3 is changed to 'Hyphen is the preferred means of creating composite names'. Item 4 and 5 were deleted. Deletion of item 5 was proposed by John and seconded by Mark and agreed unanimously after some discussion. Item 6 is changed to 'A single attribute definition will exist for each attribute name'. For example coord refers to co-ordinates and nothing else. In section 1.1.2 it was agreed that the second paragraph be changed to say 'semi-colon as a list separator for values' instead of 'semi-colon as a concatenation separator for values' With section 1.1.3 it was agreed that the second paragraph would be removed and the references to Processing Instructions will be removed from the description of <context>, <context-group> and <prop-group>. Section 1.1.4 - The second sentence which refers to 5.3 filenames will be removed. There was also some debate about whether or not there was a need to have the Naming Conventions section in the published specification. Group-order: It was agreed that the spec would be modified so that the ordering was systematic and this will be enforced by the schema. The issues raised by Christian were deferred to the next meeting when he should be present. 4/ LISA Conference It is planned to have a face to face meeting with video links at the LISA conference. Tony will confirm the date for this after consulting with those traveling to Heidelberg. Christian will be asked to organise the video conference at the German side. The meeting will take place at 5 PM (Germany) to give all members of the TC the opportunity to attend. Yves and Christian have sent out their draft presentation which was very positively received. They would like case studies for this. Mark agreed to do a case study on the Domino Global Workbench tool. It was suggested we should have a number of similar case studies of XLIFF being used. 5/ Next meeting: September 17th. 2002 Peter Reynolds, Software Development Manager, Berlitz GlobalNET 3, West Pier Business Campus, Dun Laoghaire, Co.
