Revised committee draft XLIFF 1.2 spec & HTML Representation Guide

XLIFF TC Members:

I have updated the XLIFF 1.2 Spec and HTML Representation Guides to address issues with schema validation, and to fix a couple of errors. Special thanks to Doug and Bryan for their hard work on addressing the issues related to non-XLIFF validation – they worked very hard to come up with solutions over the past few days. Also thanks to Asgeir for his valuable comments.

Files revised or added in the XLIFF 1.2 Spec package are:

*new: tek_code_trial.xsd - new sample extension schema.

-xliff-core-1.2-strict.xsd: all deprecated items removed, processing is now “strict”

-xliff-core-1.2-transitional.xsd: processing is now “skip”

-Sample_AlmostEverything_1.2_strict.xlf: change namespace declaration to include tek namespace tek_code_trial.xsd and all deprecated items removed

-cd-xliff-core-1.2-20061024.htm:

# Added note to section 2.5.4 indicating that non-XLIFF content will not be validated beyond ensuring it is well-formed.

# Fixed typo in section 3.1 where sample XLIFF XML declaration was erroneously located in the preceding paragraph.

# Corrected <alt-trans> contents section so number of <target> elements is one (multiple <target>s in <alt-trans> deprecated in 1.2)

# Corrected section 2.9 segmentation sample for an alt-trans.

# Clarified validation rules for strict and transitional variants in section 1.1.

Files revised or added in the HTML Representation Guide package are:

*new: tek_code_trial.xsd - new sample extension schema.

*ExampleXSLTUse_3_BeforeTrans.xlf : removed cals: prefix because it is not used; namespace declaration to include tek namespace tek_code_trial.xsd & namespace;

*ExampleXSLTUse_4_AfterTrans.xlf: removed cals: prefix because it is not used; namespace declaration to include tek namespace tek_code_trial.xsd & namespace;

I would appreciate if the TC has a look at these spec packages and validate the samples in favourite XML processor / development environments. Unless I receive any further feedback I will create a single ballot on Monday to approve both the XLIFF 1.2 Spec Version 20061024 and HTML Representation Guide Version 20061024 packages as Committee Drafts.
