This version is an update to the previous XLIFF 1.1 White Paper.  It has
been modified to reflect the newer features, all deprecated elements and
attributes are removed, the samples are all valid per the XLIFF 1.2 Strict
Schema, and only current recommended practices are included.  The list of
applications supporting XLIFF in section 7 is quite outdated.  Anybody
wishing to update the list is encouraged to do so.

With the completion of this document, we should be ready to request our TC
administrator to initiate an OASIS ballot to approve XLIFF 1.2 as an OASIS
Standard.  This will be proposed at the next TC meeting, assuming
everything on the check list is in order.
