SC5 of TC 37 is the subcommittee which deals with translation at ISO and as such should be dealing with XLIFF as it becomes an ISO standard. The XLIFF TC and OASIS are liaison A members of TC 37. I would like us to become a liaison A member of TC 37 SC 5 and David has asked me to point out that this is the recommendation of the P&L committee.
I would like to make the following proposal at Tuesday’s meeting:
“The OASIS XLIFF TC makes a request to become a liaison A member of ISO TC 37 SC5.”
When XLIFF 2.0 is published as an OASIS standard, I will propose it in ISO through this subcommittee. I will propose that it goes the fast track option with ISO. This allows it to start its life as Draft International Standard. The justification for this is that it will already be an OASIS standard and the standard development work has been done there.
