Subject: legal entity
Greetings! Well the usual suspects were little help with the term "legal entity." Did find one from Merriam-Webster Dictionary of Law (note copyright 1996) that reads as follows: "an entity (as a corporation or labor union) having under the law rights and responsibilities and esp. the capacity to sue and be sued" Might want to beat on it a little to make it clear that what is or is not a legal entity varies by jurisdiction, something along the lines of: Proposed definition: "Within a given legal jurisdiction, an entity that has legal rights and responsibilities, such as the right to sue and be sued." Comments, suggestions?
