Subject: RE: [xri] file scheme as xri

As a matter of fact, Bryan, the XDI TC
(http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/xdi) has not only discussed modelling
the file system with XRIs, but created early prototype XDI documents that
model what that would look like. I stress "early", because I think they were
very abstract models done under the v3 proposed XDI metaschema (a very
simple XML schema for XML documents in which all the resources are
addressable using XRIs), and the TC is now up the v6 metaschema (although
it's so simple it hasn't changed very much.)

So you're absolutely right - given that file sharing is one of the most
common forms of data sharing (and one that can involve complex rights), it
is one of the most natural places to use XRIs (and XDI, I might add, trying
to not show my bias as co-chair of the XDI TC ;-)

Given that any scheme should be xri compatible has anyone done any thinking
about the file scheme running as xri?
