Subject: Minutes: XRI TC Telecon Friday 12/23
Minutes from the 2005-12-23 unofficial XRI TC telecon. Date: Friday, 23 December 2005 Time: 10:00am - 11:30am PT Event Description: XRI TC Unofficial Telecon to finish Committee Draft 02 cycle. Present: Gabe Mike Drummond Les Victor Marty AGENDA 1) UPDATE ON POSTPONEMENT OF XRI SYNTAX 2.0 VOTE We briefly discussed a planned call with OASIS staff at 10AM PT on Wed. January 4 to discuss the timing of the vote. 2) REVIEW OF UPDATED XRI RESOLUTION FLOWCHART We reviewed an update to the proposed XRI Resolution 2.0 flowchart posted at: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xri/download.php/16021/xri-res- flowchart-wd04.pdf We stepped through the entire flowchart. The consensus was that in Working Draft 10 we need to clearly separate XRI resolution into two "layers": authority resolution (required to produce an XRDS document) and service selection (optional to use if needed; required only for some functions of XRI proxy resolution.) The following remaining open issues were noted and action items assigned: a) There was consensus that the passing of input parameters should be via a query. # ACTION ITEM: Victor will post an email with a proposal. b) There was discussion about how fine-grained the error handling needed to be. Gabe pointed out that it is a tradeoff between how much information should be returned and how much implementation effort is warranted. # ACTION ITEM: The Error Team (Les, Wil, Steve, Victor) needs to submit a proposal as to both how much granularity is justified and how the error messages should be carried (i.e., in an xrd:Error element or in HTTP headers or...?) c) We discussed the XLD proposal and there was concern that it was more complex than was justified for XRI authority redirection logic. It was agreed a separate call was needed to close on this one issue. # ACTION ITEM: Drummond to schedule a call on this topic after confirming Steve is available.
