Subject: Minutes: Joint XRI & XDI TC Telecon Thursday 2007-01-11

[My apologies for the tardiness of posting these minutes -- January was a
month of intensive travel for me. Thankfully Laurie now has the minuting
mantle. Go Laurie!]

Following are the minutes for the joint unofficial telecon of the XRI and
XDI TCs at:

Date:  Thursday, 11 January 2007 USA (Friday morning Asia)
Time:  4:00PM - 5:30PM PT

ATTENDING

Gabe Wachob
Drummond Reed
Laurie Rae
Steven Churchill
Wil Tan
Marty Schleiff

AGENDA

1) PROPOSAL FOR JOINT XRI/XDI TC CALLS
We agreed that since at this point in time there is an increasing overlap
between the subjects the two TCs are discussing, we have a single joint call
each week with a single agenda, reducing the administrative overhead and
making it simpler to discuss joint topics.

We also noted that with Wil moving to the U.S. from Austrailia shortly, and
pending new members of the XDI TC coming from Italy, we may need to move the
call to earlier in the day.

2) XRI SYNTAX 2.1 NORMAL FORMS
Drummond and Marty reviewed the current status of the normal form ladder:

There was basic consensus on the overall structure; now the details of the
transformations just need to be completed, and this wiki page will become
essentially the draft of the new text to be added to XRI Syntax 2.1.

3) XRI RESOLUTION WD11 ISSUE #37: XRDS ATTRIBUTE PROPOSAL
Based on last week's discussion, there is an updated proposal for resolving
issue #37. See the proposal at:

1e66bd84dc75e2737adcdfa421f

We had a long discussion of this proposal. Key points:

* The concept of references from one XRDS document to another, instead of
from on XRI authority to another, is very useful. It solves several puzzling
use cases and could be a valuable general feature of XRI resolution
infrastructure.

* The details of the mechanics are still being worked out. Steve suggested
another name for the proposed xrds attribute -- "proxy". We need to further
discuss.
