Subject: Minutes:Joint XRI & XDI TC Telecon 10AM PT Thursday 2007-11-07
Following are the minutes for a joint unofficial telecon of the XRI and XDI TCs at: Date: Thursday, 07 November 2007 USA Time: 10:00AM - 12:00PM Pacific Time Event Description: Weekly unofficial joint call of the XRI and XDI Technical Committees. ATTENDING Markus Sabadello Kermit Snelson Gabe Wachob Drummond Reed Les Chasen John Bradley Wil Tan KEY * = discussion point # = action item AGENDA 1) REVIEW OF XRI RESOLUTION 2.0 WORKING DRAFT 11 ED08 ED08 is the last draft before the final Working Draft 11 on which we will hold the Committee Draft vote. It is 100% content complete. The public links to ED08 are: PDF (this is the suggested version to open for the call): http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/26041/xri-resolution-v2.0- wd-11-ed-08.pdf WORD: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/26040/xri-resolution-v2.0- wd-11-ed-08.doc On the call Drummond ran through each of the revisions in ED08, all of which are marked either with change bars (for smaller changes) or with a comment on the section heading (for new sections or larger changes within a section). Following are the notes and action items: * Wil brought up that the DNS analogy in section 1.1 was not quite technically accurate. # WIL and JOHN to rework intro to section 1.1. * Drummond pointed out the new example format in section 11.4 # KERMIT to proof this example for errors. * Drummond explained that Section 12, Redirect and Ref Processing, was the only section that had significant revisions to the text in order to capture all the rules that are now reflected in the flowcharts (there were no changes to the flowcharts). # JOHN to do a close review of section 12. * Drummond explained the bug fixed with CanonicalEquivID verification in section 14.3.3, specifically that it now allows an XRD to publish a CanonicalEquivID that is the same as the CanonicalID because the CanonicalEquivID, when resolved, could use a Ref to point back to the original XRD. Thus a CanonicalEquivID that resolves back to the same XRD that asserts this CanonicalEquivID should also satisfy verification. # JOHN to verify that this revision to section 14.3.3 does not introduce any unintended consequences. * Appendix F has been updated by Wil and Steve. Drummond did some editing to the final text to make it consistent with the spec and eliminate redundancy. # WIL and STEVE and JOHN to do a read-through of Appendix F. * Lastly, Drummond shared his view that with all issues closed and the spec completely stable, it still needed a complete end-to-end read-through for consistency (especially between older and newer sections), references, terminology, typos, and formatting. # KERMIT and JOHN to join DRUMMOND in doing a final read-through. 2) SCHEDULE COMMITTEE DRAFT 02 VOTE There was consensus that we should complete this last round of proofing by early next week, then Drummond will post the final Working Draft 11, and on next week's telecon we will make the final decision about commencing the Committee Draft vote. 3) INVITATION FOR THE XRI TC TO JOIN THE OASIS ID-TRUST MEMBER SECTION The XRI TC has been invited to join the ID-Trust Member Section. You can learn more about it at: http://oasis-idtrust.org/ Gabe and Drummond explained that they had a telecon last week with ID-Trust MS Steering Committee member Abbie Barbir of Nortel and OASIS ID-Trust Coordinator Dee Schur of the benefits of making this election, including: * Access to ID-Trust Member Section resources for promoting XRI. * Growing support for XRI from other related TCs. * Coordination of XRI usage/integration with other TCs in this Member Section. Our only reservation has been being the first non-PKI TC to join this Member Section which was formerly the PKI Member Section. However the ID-Trust Steering Committee is aggressively pursuing other TCs to fit its expanded charter, which makes us more comfortable. We have scheduled for Abbie and Dee to join us on next week's weekly telecon to explain this further. They will be the first item on the agenda at 10AM PT so that we can give them a firm starting time. 4) REQUEST BY MARCUS SABADELLO FOR FEEDBACK ON PROPOSED XRI 3.O IMPLEMENTATION REQUIREMENTS See Markus' message to the list at: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xri/200711/msg00014.html * Markus asked for feedback on the proposal he's posted, which is aimed primarily at doing an implementation of the proposed XRI 3.0 syntax at http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xri/XriThree/SyntaxAbnf. * Kermit asked where a list of the key changes between 2.0 and 3.0 syntax is listed. Drummond pointed to the one in the introduction of the current XDI RDF proposal at http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/25531/xdi-rdf-model-v7.pdf . * There were good suggestions from Wil, Kermit, and John about the requirements relative to the OpenXRI project framework and how to preserve backwards compatability. * There was consensus that Markus' effort will help us test and discover any issues with the proposed XRI 3.0 syntax changes. * Markus will keep us appraised of his progress. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this mail list, you must leave the OASIS TC that generates this mail.
