An amusing idea, no doubt.
However if we have a XRI resolution process that is still required, I think making our authority segments look more like DNS is probably a mistake.
Using DNS directly in XRI resolution would require a ground up redesign that in the end likely won't add more than we will loose by giving up cross references.
Now if NeuStar wants to pay $50k/year to have a cooler DNS name for the proxy resolver I am OK with that.

Rather, they mean "organization" and "individual". And don't forget that "$" means "metadata" or "spec", not "dollar". It's OK with me if we forget about "+", but other people want to keep it. So we could consider a TLD like ".xri" under which we could have something like "org.xri", "ind.xri", and "spec.xri". Or, we could have separate TLDs for each like ".xorg", ".xind", and ".xspec". .at and .equal, with all i-names in the GRS automatically mapping to subdomains? Oops .at is taken already. :) Markus On Fri, Jun 27, 2008 at 7:28 AM, Nat Sakimura < n-sakimura@nri.co.jp> wrote: Indeed.
Perhaps, .xri TLD ?

From a namespace management point of view - this is looking more like i-names, only backwards, and with the '.' character, and with a few less charactrers, and using DNS resolution...
