Subject: Groups - PILIN Oasis Response feedback (PILIN oasisresponse.doc) uploaded

This is one of four documents contributed as background to the ongoing
debate on abstract identifiers, by the PILIN project
http://www.pilin.net.au . It is a draft that will be published later this
year on the PILIN 2 website. The documents reflect PILIN's orientation
towards persistent identification, and may not match XRI's concerns; but
they may be useful in giving another perspective on the debate.

This is the PILIN project's feedback on the XRI TC's response to the W3C
TAG on the issue. This is to anticipate some of the responses from W3C, as
well as our own findings about identifiers. We are offering this as a
"devil's advocate" take on the response paper. (I suspect you've
anticipated or even heard most of these responses already, but offer them
just in case. Note that PILIN was all about persistence, so it is allergic
to semantically transparent identifiers because it has different concerns
than XRI.)
