Subject: RE: [xri] namespace URI versioning policy
I am guessing that was needed when XRDS was a CD for a very long time and OpenID 2.0 needed to reference something stable. Either way, when XRDS Resolution 2.0 changed the schema from CD2 to CD3, they added <Type> at the XRD level but did not change the namespace.
