Subject: RE: [xslt-conformance] Minutes for January Teleconference2002-01-1714:00-16:00EDT

Hello,

First apologies for not showing up. My bad, I had my reminder set for
2PM PST.
Below is my input for this meeting

========================================================================
==========================
Status on
  - 20010213-ACT-5: (Pranav) document proposed HTML information set
processes

It got postponed to February now. This is because Kirill needs to adjust
to the pace of W3C QA WG.
I would like to ask you folks if this is a problem.

Status on
  - 20010711-ACT-6: (Pranav) a prototype test bench for internal
committee use

I have started working on a script which will fit everyones need.
Assuming everyone will be on Windows Platform, I will coming up with a
JavaScript based TestHarness which can be executed
at the Dos prompt using Cscript.Exe built-in Script Engine in Windows
OS.

I have the following questions for this Prototype.

1. Control File
Should we all agree to a new control file format or go ahead with what
we have in our current submissions ?
By control file I mean an XML File which contains information about all
the tests we submit. This control file
will be input to the test harness tool to run the tests using all
different parsers.

2. Input Format
Engine XmlFile XslFile Params

Where Engine can be an executable implementing different Parsers.
XmlFile is the full path of an XML File
XslFile is the full path to the XSL File
Params can be any other parameters that you might want for the test to
run
If we agree to a certain input format then plugging in the individual
executables will be easy in the test harness.

3. Parameter Passing to XSLT
I would like to know how this is implemented in different parsers. Or do
we not care about xsl:param tests ?

4. Output comparison against baseline.
XML - Can we use any webservice to do output comparison ? We do have an
XMLDiff service in .NET framework.
HTML - Kirill's tool will come in handy
Text - Basic text comparison can be done, ofcourse whitespace issues
might come up here.

Thanks
Pranav
