4. HIMSS 2011 Demonstration leveraging XSPA

February 21-24 at the HIMSS 2011 conference and exhibition, a demonstration of XSPA was used, in part, to demonstrate an implementation of technologies described in the “Report to the President Realizing the Full Potential of Health Information Technology to Improve Healthcare for Americans: The Path Forward,” recently released in the US by the Executive Office of the President’s “President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology” (PCAST).

A PowerPoint describing the demonstration is on the XSPA list.  The demonstration was staged in the Office of National Coordinator (ONC) booth in the interoperability showcase on the exhibition floor:

5. Schema describing patient consent directives, organizational policies, and confidentiality attributes

Duane has created a description of patient consent directives, organizational policies, and confidentiality attributes for the implementation of the PCAST data tagging scenario (above).  Patient consent directives extend the XSPA TC demonstration beyond showing the privacy office using an interface to enter in the patient’s preferences and should be discussed by the TC.  A link to the schema artifact is at:

http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xspa/email/archives/201103/msg00000.html

Document Description:

Includes patient, organizational, and data confidentiality tagging as described by PCAST recommendations Dec 2010. Supports the creation of XSPA Patient Consent Directive at varying levels of complexity.  Organizational policy editor.  And the mapping of healthcare object to HL7 confidentiality code and apply policy to them.

6. XSPA Reference Implementation, Test and Certification

Duane will give an update on the XSPA Reference Implementation, Test and Certification work and weekly meetings. Additional support is solicited.

7. General discussion
