Edward Kozel to its board of directors. Mr. Kozel, former CTO and Senior

DataChannel Names Edward R. Kozel as Director

Former Cisco Systems executive joins DataChannel Board of Directors


Bellevue, WA - August 29, 2000 - DataChannel, Inc., (www.datachannel.com),

a leader in XML-based "Business-to-Anyone" (B2A) enterprise information

portal solutions, today announced the appointment of Edward R. Kozel to its

board of directors.  Mr. Kozel, a managing partner of Open Range Ventures,

a private venture capital firm active in telecommunications, networking and

Internet startups, joins DataChannel's board after 11 years in a variety of

roles, including Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of

Business Development at Cisco Systems.

During his tenure as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of

Business Development at Cisco Systems, Mr. Kozel oversaw many of Cisco's

acquisitions and directed the company's strategic technology planning,

joint development projects and consulting engineering.  Mr. Kozel has been

a member of Cisco Systems board of directors since 1996.

In addition to Cisco, Mr. Kozel is on the boards of Reuters PLC, TIBCO

Software and Telegris Networks.  Prior to joining Cisco, Mr. Kozel worked

at Boeing, McDonnell Douglas and SRI International, where he contributed to

the early design and development of the Internetwork Protocol (IP) model

and TCP/IP, packet radio networks and highly distributed information

systems. He earned his degree in electrical engineering from the University

of California, Davis, and has participated in Internet technology and

applications since 1980.



With the addition of Mr. Kozel, there now are eight members of

DataChannel's board of directors.
