Subject: RE: [chairs] RE: [members] OASIS member review of proposed revision of TC Process

Can we have confirmation from the source, please?

Does this change just mean we now have 3 categories of members?

	1. Voting TC member (unchanged)
	2. Non-voting TC member (new name for Observer)
	3. Observer (new category - can do nothing but watch)

If that's the sole effect of the change (oh, and during the change all
current Observers get upgraded to non-voting TC member), then I have no
real problem with it.

If, on the other hand, all the current Observers get down-graded to new
Observers, then I consider this a big inconvenience.

I had the same concerns as Eric, the current input from observers is
important. Will there be a mechanism to proactively make the observers
non-voting members, unless they decline?

Eduardo,

Do you mean that the new process doesn't change the ability of anyone to
join a TC and participate as a non-voting member? So the proposed
change is simply a renaming of the type of member, not the elimination
of a membership category?

Thanks,

Eric

But Rob, if you read the new process carefully, you will discover that
you can be a TC member without being a voting member (that is, you can
be a non-voting TC member without having to meet attendance criteria),
thus being able to contribute to your heart's content as current
Observers do.
