I don't think we have to sit and wait for long.
First of all, to deliver a new version it will take
something from 6 months to a year if we all participate actively.
On the other hand, I do not propose any radical
changes. I think reshuffling some elements around without changing the basic
constructs will have very little impact even on the existing implementations as
it will be possible to convert any v.2 instance document into v.3 thu an XSL
template. The XSLT file can be even delivered as part of the specification
package.
I'm not even sure if the number of the next version
should be 3. It's more like 2.5 or something.
At least the requirements I proposed are about
enhancing v.2 without making irreversible changes.
Well, it's just an opinion.
