Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CMIS-716) Query for v1.1

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-716?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=25271#action_25271 ]

Florent Guillaume commented on CMIS-716:
----------------------------------------

As noted by Jane, SELECT * FROM heath insurance, pension insurance is ambiguous and in the SQL world would mean an implicit cross join. So I'm -1 on this syntax.

Adding UNION is possible but this gets quickly complicated on the implementation side though, for a benefit to most clients that is small as the UNION can often be done in two queries (unless ordering is used).

Back to the initial use case, is there something that is not covered by a simple query like:
SELECT * FROM insurance WHERE cmis:objectTypeId IN ('heath insurance', 'pension insurance') AND ...

> Per discussion at the 21 March 2011 TC meeting, this item is created as a forum to collect input on any aspect of the query capability that may need change/extension for v1.1. Depending on the input, the TC will determine the next step.
