Subject: Re: [docbook-apps] <section> numbering depth & multiple index generation

By coincidence, both of these features have recently been added to the
stylesheet source files, but there has not yet been a release of them.
Sometime soon, I think.

For item 1, there will be a new $section.autolabel.max.depth that specifies
the maximum section depth for numbering of sections. It applies to both
nested section elements and sect1, sect2, etc.

For item 2, there will be a new $index.on.type parameter. When non-zero,
then if there is an index element with a type attribute, then only indexterm
elements with the same type attribute value will appear in that index.
Since the type attribute was added in version 4.3 of the DTD, there is also
a $index.on.role attribute that does the same thing with the role attribute.
That can be used with documents using a DTD prior to version 4.3.

Subject: [docbook-apps] <section> numbering depth & multiple index
generation

Hi Everyone,

QUESTION 1:
I was wondering if there is way to limit the section numbering if you are
using <section> tags via the custimization layer? I found this post
(http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/docbook-apps/200206/msg00133.html) but
it requires that one change the label.xsl stylesheet. I was curious to see
if anyone has come up a solution on the customization layer, since I am the
last person who should messing with these files.

QUESTION 2:
I need to be able to generate separate indexes (Main Index, Index of
Subjects, etc.). Is there a way to generate this automatically? I have read
Bob's book on the topic but it doesn't seem possible.

Thanks,
René
