Subject: DOCBOOK: Support for marking up newsgroups
The DocBook TC struggles often with the question of how to add new flavors of markup to the DTD. In particular, it's often difficult to decide when a new inline element is warranted and when a new class of systemitem is sufficient. One criteria has to do with the frequency of use. If the element is likely to be used only infrequently, adding a class to systemitem has a minimum impact on the authoring experience (there's no new element in drop-down lists, stylesheets require less changing, etc.) The TC would appreciate feedback on how often it is desirable to markup newsgroups. Is <systemitem class='newsgroup'> too inconvenient in this case?
