Subject: Re: [docbook-tc] DocBook Technical Committee Meeting Minutes: 15 March 2006

[ I nipped the -tc list out of the To: field to keep technical discussion
  on the public list. ]

Thanks, Jirka, for getting this started.

| Your own version identifiers should use the following syntax in
| order to record their DocBook derivation:
|
| base_version [Subset|Extension|Variant]? [name [version]]+
|
| For example:
|
| 5.0 Subset Simplified 1.0
| 5.0 Variant ASMBook
| 5.0 ASMBook 2006
| 5.0 Extension MathML 2.0 SVG 1.1

I think there might be some value in having the version attribute be a
list of tokens. so I propose a small modification:

  base_version-[subset|extension|variant]? [name-[version]?]+

  For example:

  5.0-subset simplified-1.0
  5.0-variant ASMBook
  5.0 ASMBook-2006
  5.0-extension MathML-2.0 SVG-1.1

I don't see any particular value in leaving subset/extension/variant
optional, but I don't feel strongly about it.

                                        Be seeing you,
                                          norm
