Subject: Re: [ebxml-bp] Reminders and Updates on ebBP

Hi Monica.

> On RDDL: In our last call we briefly discussed RDDL and the response...

I was not on your "last call", but I'd like to refer you and
your TC to a more recent model for a "RDDL example" than
the one you cite from the Kavi repository.

The RDDL you cite is cited:

http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=20191

is old, from 07-September-2006

Furthermore, any resources like this from the Kavi repository are
not to be used as models for work that's to be published in the
OASIS Library, viz., at http://docs.oasis-open.org/ebxml-bp/*

That's because we screen nothing in Kavi for adherence to the
Naming Guidelines, but we do examine candidate resources for
inclusion in the OASIS Library (http://docs.oasis-open.org/)

For a better RDDL example, please see:

NS URI: http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-tx/wsba/2006/06
RDDL: http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-tx/wsba/2006/06/wstx-wsba-1.1-rddl-200701.htm

The NS URI (dereferenced) produces the RDDL namespace document --
naturally, because a (RDDL) namespace document documents a namespace.

Note, in particular, that this WSBA RDDL namespace document
provides the version-specific URIs for the prose specification
document in PDF, HTML, and (editable source) Word/.doc

http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-tx/wstx-wsba-1.1-spec-pr-01.pdf
http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-tx/wstx-wsba-1.1-spec-pr-01/wstx-wsba-1.1-spec-pr-01.html
http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-tx/wstx-wsba-1.1-spec-pr-01.doc

*and* critically, per some recent conversations, it provides the
version-specific URIs for the WSBA XML schema and WSDL:

http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-tx/wsba/2006/06/wstx-wsba-1.1-schema-200701.xsd
http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-tx/wsba/2006/06/wstx-wsba-1.1-wsdl-200701.wsdl

Note: the RDDL uses no generic/latest/current URIs, for these resources,
though in principle, were the proper [dual] declarations to have been made
in the publication history (*from the very beginning*), there would be
principled objection to referencing those URIs as well.

The RDDL at:
http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-tx/wsba/2006/06/wstx-wsba-1.1-rddl-200701.htm

does not provide a complete/ideal model for an ideal RDDL because it includes
metadata elements (label::value) from a obsolete design published
in "ASIS" which has now been superseded by the Naming Guidelines, here:

http://docs.oasis-open.org/specGuidelines/namingGuidelines/metadata.html
http://docs.oasis-open.org/specGuidelines/namingGuidelines/resourceNaming.html

The otiose elements in WSBA RDDL are: Product, ArtifactType, Language

The inventory of required metadata elements (which could be in a RDDL)
are documented here:

http://docs.oasis-open.org/specGuidelines/namingGuidelines/metadata.html#proseRequired

Hope this helps in your ebxml-bp context.
