Subject: RE: [emergency-adopt-events] Fwd: RE: Good Comments From Scott Robertson
Great suggestions – I think this sync’s up with what we concluded about the content of the BoF. Thanks, dee Dee Schur Senior Manager, Development & Advocacy From: emergency-adopt-events@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:emergency-adopt-events@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of rexbroo Hi Everyone, I am forwarding this from Scott Robertson of Kaiser-Permanente and I think we would be wise to take this into consideration and use our time to make our demonstration/presentation as relaxed and easy as we can make it so as to make the most of our audience's time and expectations. Cheers, Rex
I am in the air at 1pm, so I won’t be able to attend this call. As a regular HL7 attendee (only an OASIS observer), a few thoughts: · The HL7 BOF sessions are pretty relaxed. · Timing: keep in mind o Q4 workgroup session end at 5pm … people may be trailing in as late as 5:30pm o BOF sessions are between the last meeting (Q4) and dinner. Some people will stay around to talk for a long time. Most will likely leave at (or before) the end of the presentation · If you want to include something to drink or a light appetizer, do make a big deal about it. It should be a “reward” for those who attend. If you advertise any kind of food, you’ll get a lot of people showing up just for the food. · Handouts aren’t required but will really help with people retaining the major points of the presentation · This is an open forum. Don’t include any IP. Understand that all materials may be widely distributed. · Don’t sell any commercial products. This is a pet peeve of mine … BOFs are supposed to be an exchange of ideas, not a sales promotion · You will be given a brief slot at the morning general session the day of the BOF to remind everybody. Not sure if there will be time for any slides/teasers … usually it’s a verbal announcement. o If you have a 1 or 2 slide teaser, HL7 staff may be add that to the general slide rotation (plays while people are eating breakfast and lunch). Not required, but it would be one more opportunity to get the message out o Check with HL7 staff on what may be possible. -Scott -------- Kaiser Permanente
