Subject: RE: FFM TC, September 5 2011, Meeting Minutes

Hello all

Regarding the date/time formats action items:

I propose adopting the XSD data types for date, time, dateTime and duration, Note duration is not currently in the draft for Core Data Model, but I believe we'll need it too – e.g. for stating expected duration of service activity.

These data types are formally specified in http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema-2/#isoformats and more readably in http://www.w3schools.com/Schema/schema_dtypes_date.asp.

If we decide to adopt this, there remains the question of how to treat time zones, since the XSD specification defines time zones as optional and does not allow time zone names – just time zone numerical offsets. My recommendation is to avoid time zone names, and to treat optional time zone info as follows:

1.  When generating messages, the sender MAY specify dates, times and timeDates with or without time zone information (rationale: since a common use case is for all work to be in the same time zone; presumably implementations will have an internal configuration option for setting the default time zone).

2. When receiving messages, the receiver MUST correctly process dates, times and timeDates both when given with time zone information and when given without it (in the latter case, correct processing means using a default time zone that is implementation-defined).

Best regards,

http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/43341/FFMIISpecification-Foundation-CoreDataModel-20110825-D.docx

Document was noted. Decided to integrate content in the Foundation document. Date, Time and DateTime vs DateTime only? This will be re-evaluated in retrospect after the specification has been more fully developed

Explain M/O (Mandatory / option). Add this to ‘Conventions’ Section. (Added Action item for Jiri)

Reword custom properties to emphasize bilateral applicability (not only towards Implementation) (Added Action item for Jiri)

Discussed if Capabilities Discovery should be optional in Manager. There is relatively lot of work to implement a Manager Capabilities discovery if it does not support anything. Therefore it can be left as an optional feature.

TC agreed on revised draft. Ordering (restructuring) proposed by Jiri was accepted. Jiri makes edits, Thinh will integrate the result into working draft (added Action item to Jiri & Thinh).

TC Stopped meeting after this item 6c.

6D-6F remain on next meeting’s agenda, 12.9.
