Subject: [legalxml-odr] RE: Online Dispute Resolution Meetings RSVP Poll(Atlanta, Seattle, San Antonio, Geneva?)

For the members of the ABA ADR eMail list: Please let me clarify the
intended audience for a poll on interest and availability to attend proposed
meetings of the LegalXML Technical Committee. This group is developing XML
Standards for Online Dispute Resolution (OdrXML).

The invitation was sent primarily to the subscribers of the OdrXML list with
an FYI courtesy copy to the ABA ADR list. The ABA ListServe software removed
all the "TO" and "FROM" data from the message, causing some confusion.
Please note, that the ABA is a member of LegalXML/OASIS and a number of ABA
members are active in it ranks.

Please respond to the poll if you are interested in participating in the
work of this Legal XML Standards Committee.

Based on earlier postings on the ABA ADR list, we offered to send periodic
updates and notices about OdrXML Standards activities. We want respect the
separation between the different lists. We do not want to post detailed
discussion threads to the ABA-ADR list when they may only be of interest to
a small sub-set of the ADR Community.

LegalXML OASIS has it own eMail lists for the work of the Technical
Committee. It also offers a public comment address and it keeps the archived
discussion completely open to the public.

If you don't care to be on the Technical Committee list you are welcome the
visit the archives and post comments to a public comment address for the
OdrXML Technical Committee. I have excerpted a summary of the list and
archives addresses at the end of this message.

One of the recipients of this message has suggested a Web Log or "BLOG" as a
way to provide let interested parties subscribe to more targeted source of
information and updates. This is worth exploring.

Thanks for you patience and understanding as we try to sort out the
subtleties of cross-posting to multiple lists.

Best regards,

Jim Keane

[ADR List Service. See bottom for subscription info. and list guidelines.]

The OdrXML Technical Committee needs you to fill out a very simple meeting
planning form at:

http://www.bowie-jensen.com/mtg/index.php

In the charter we used the ABA Meeting in Seattle on Feb 7-9 as a potential
meeting site, but several other candidate have emerged where we may have
better participation. By taking the poll we can determine if we will have
enough players in Seattle or at other meeting.

1) Eighth Annual Winter Working Meeting of the American Bar Association's
Cyberspace Law Committee in Atlanta, Georgia on January 24 and 25, 2003.
http://www.abanet.org/buslaw/cyber/meetings.htmloll we can decide to have
one or more meetings for different groups.

2) ABA MidYear Meeting in Seattle and the Annual meeting in San Francisco.
The Dispute Resolution Section is listed for meetings from February 7-9 at
the Renaissance Madison hotel.

3) Dispute Resolution Section Conference in San Antonio from March 20-2
 http://www.abanet.org/dispute/conference/brochure.pdf (see key details
below)

4) UN ODR Forum in June 6-7 , 2003 in Geneva (forum to have a dialogue with
OdrXML folks from around the world.
http://www.unece.org/press/pr2002/02opa09e.htm

Please do not RSVP to the this eMail list. Just use the form. Do post other
suggestions, agenda items, additional meetings opportunities on this
discussion thread.

I'm pulling the minutes together for the kick-off call along with some
additional developments. I will circulate a draft to the attendees and then
to the whole community.

Happy New Year to all. Don't close this eMail, please. Take a minute to the
Meeting planning link. http://www.bowie-jensen.com/mtg/index.php

And look at the courses planned for March. Please note if I have missed
anything.

Deborah,
It's been awhile since we tried to get you involved the in ABA London
program in 2000. I 've helped organize an online dispute resolution
technical committee for LegalXML/OASIS (see www.legalxml.org) to develop xml
standards for data exchange betweem ecommerce providers and courts with ODR
providers. Is there someone at WIPO who should be involved with this?

Please use jik@jkeane.com for your reply. I am using this back-up account
just for the day.

Best,
Jim Keane
