ebXML IMPLEMENTATIONS
---------------------

Editors, analysts and developers are increasingly interested in ebXML
implementations. To be sure we cite the latest info--and direct media
and prospects appropriately--OASIS asks you to let us know about your
ebXML implementation activities. If your organization: a) has
implemented or is in the process of implementing ebXML for internal use;
b) currently offers ebXML products or services; or c) plans to offer
ebXML products or services within the next three to six months, please
send email to carol.geyer@oasis-open.org. Also, let Carol
know if you would be open to speaking with members of the media.

-------------------
THE XML COVER PAGES
-------------------

English-speaking Internet users are sometimes annoyed when search
engines provide links to "foreign" language documents, but this
experience should serve as a reminder that all written text is "in" some
language. Computers must be given
explicit information about language and script for every piece of text
in order to process the text correctly. Within the digital library
community and in standards committees, language experts are busy trying
to create taxonomies for language and
writing systems to support language-sensitive data processing. Robin
Cover has created a new resource for the XML
Cover Pages web site (xml.coverpages.org) which documents this
standardization activity. Readers are urged to review the document
"Language Identifiers in the Markup Context"
(http://xml.coverpages.org/languageIdentifiers.html) and to support
standards work in this area.

MEMBER BENEFITS
---------------

Start an OASIS TC

The OASIS technical agenda is driven by members. Any group of three or
more members can form a TC to standardize
virtually anything related to the interoperability of structured
information systems. The first step is to create a discussion list. This
gives you 90 days to explore your idea with other OASIS members, gauge
the level of interest and outline work. If you have an idea for a
TC--even if it's not a fully-formed plan--contact
karl.best@oasis-open.org for info on how to proceed. See
www.oasis-open.org/committees/process.shtml for more details.

-----------------
