OASIS Board and TAB Elections Closes 24 May

 

Nominations for both the OASIS Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Board remain open until 24 May. This is the last chance for members to submit questions to Board candidates. Submitted questions will be compiled and provided anonymously to all Board candidates. The optional replies will be posted to the candidate profile page for member review and consideration.

Universal Business Language (UBL) 1.0 Approved as an OASIS Committee

Draft

 

Universal Business Language (UBL) v1.0 was approved as an OASIS Committee Draft. UBL defines a generic, modular XML interchange format for business documents that can be extended to particular industry needs. UBL v1.0 CD is being submitted to OASIS for public review preceding further standardization. The review period will end 12 June 2004.

AVDL Specification Submitted for OASIS Standard

 

The OASIS Application Vulnerability Description Language (AVDL) TC has

submitted the AVDL v1.0 specification, an approved Committee Draft, for approval by OASIS members to become an OASIS Standard. AVDL is a security interoperability standard for creating a uniform method of describing application security vulnerabilities using XML. OASIS members should give input to their organization's voting representative. Voting will end 31 May.

oBIX TC Begins Work at OASIS

 

The OASIS Open Building Information Exchange (oBIX) TC has been formed. The purpose of the OASIS Open Building Information Exchange (oBIX) TC is to define a standard web services protocol to enable communications between building mechanical and electrical systems and enterprise applications. Please contact the TC chair by 1 June to participate in the first meeting, which will be held by teleconference, on 15 June.

UNECE and OASIS Reaffirm ebXML Cooperative Efforts

 

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe

(UNECE) announced that the UN Centre for Trade Facilitation and

Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) and OASIS reaffirm the commitment to

ebXML cooperation.

China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS), East Asia Electronic Commerce Association (EA-ECA) and OASIS will sponsor the China-Japan International Joint Forum--OASIS Open Standards Days Tokyo 2004 on 15-16 June in Shinagawa, Tokyo. The event will include two days focused on examining global standards related to electronic commerce. CAP Ratified as OASIS Standard

 

The Consortium announced that its members have approved the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) version 1.0 as an OASIS Standard. CAP enables the exchange of emergency alert and public warning information over data networks and computer-controlled warning systems.
