Subject: Re: [obix] Nag nag RE: Action Items (UNCLASSIFIED) schemas
There are at least two things we need to consider.(1) The 1.1 schemas have not been updated since June. An updated (==reformatted) document may be useful, if only to clarify the relationships for the text. I'd rather wait for a schema update, however - the issue is "beautify the June schemas" or "show the new schemas".
(2) The wsdl also includes schemas; I've not yet compared those to the obix.xsd from June.
Guidance on what's in 1.1 and what's accessory to Websockets/SOAP would be useful so I can plan.
Thanks again! bill On 10/30/13 10:09 AM, Bogen, Chris ERDC-RDE-ITL-MS wrote:
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: FOUO I did indeed post a couple of issues to JIRA regarding the schema, but they should not be too controversial. I'm also not sure that making my suggested changes would impact the UML diagram, but since it is under review it is probably best to wait. I am willing to make my suggested changes in a new draft of the core schema, but I doubt I can get this done before tomorrow. I'm still playing catch up at the office after my time at home. -chris -----Original Message----- From: obix@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:obix@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Toby Considine Sent: Wednesday, October 30, 2013 8:26 AM To: 'Gemmill, Craig'; obix@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: RE: [obix] Nag nag RE: Action Items I don't think we need an updated diagram for the next WDWe have agreed (per my notes) that we are not going to build a table of contents into the UML, the improved layout for section 4 handles that. Updating the UML before the schema changes arrive (or a PR) is just make-work.I understand we are getting schema comments this morning. They will certainly generate conversation. There is a tension between Good Practice (as understood in 2013), Simplicity, and Backwards Compatibility which will certainly lead to lively discussion. If you can come up with the improved lobby and/or the rest of the comment back-log, we would like to see it.The one impediment is that we know that the Watch is being "perfected" in Web Sockets. That will come back into the core, in some form, in the narrative. It may result in a Schema change or two, as well. That may in turn modify the UML.Will we need some schema for the Lobby elements? Don't know. It's possible. This is a long way of saying that I'd welcome seeing what you've got.tc________________________________ "If something is not worth doing, it`s not worth doing well " -- Peter Drucker ________________________________ Toby Considine TC9, Inc OASIS TC Chair: oBIX & WS-Calendar OASIS TC Editor: EMIX, Energy Interoperation SGIP Smart Grid Architecture CommitteeEmail: Toby.Considine@gmail.com <mailto:Toby.Considine@fac.unc.edu> Phone: (919)619-2104 http://www.tcnine.com blog: http://www.NewDaedalus.comFrom: Gemmill, Craig [mailto:craig.gemmill@tridium.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 30, 2013 8:32 AM To: Toby Considine; obix@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: RE: [obix] Nag nag RE: Action ItemsI've got some changes done on the core.
