Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3386) ODF 1.2-1 5.4.1 "Ifa section is linked to another document"?
[ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3386?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=21680#action_21680 ] Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-3386: ----------------------------------------- I finally dug into the schema to find out that there is a case that has been lost in the prose. Please see OFFICE-3458. This leaves open the following problems. 1. How can one name a section that is intended to be included by reference into other sections without having to also link the named section that is intended only as a source to something. The current schema doesn't seem to permit that case. 2. How does one deal with a <text:section> that has <text:section>s as its element children? They are peculiar in that they will have the same names as they do in the source by which the top-level <text:sedion> is populated, etc. That or embedded sections should not have names (certainly not xml:id values) and ideally they would always take their source from some other common section that is the end-source or provides the only link to an external source (and the others all source from it?) So, in sourcing from another <text:section>, only the cached content travels (since otherwise there are duplicated linking elements), and that is probably worth a note. > ODF 1.2-1 5.4.1 "If a section is linked to another document"? > ------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: OFFICE-3386 > URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3386 > Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC > Issue Type: Bug > Components: Needs Discussion, Part 1 (Schema), Public Review, Text > Affects Versions: ODF 1.2 CD 05 > Reporter: Dennis Hamilton > Fix For: ODF 1.2 CD 06 > > > In Part 1 section 5.4.1, General, for <text:section> it is stated that > "Sections support two ways of linking to external content. If a section is linked to another document, the link can be through one of the following ... ." > But there appears to be no alternative to linking. According to the schema, there must be exactly one of <text:section-source> or <office:dde-source> element as the first element child of every <text:section>. > So what are the alternatives to "linked to another document"? If there are other sources, what are they? If there are <text:section> elements with no sources, how is that accomplished? -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira
